Günzburg power station performs very well with filter bags from BWF Envirotec

As reported, in 2007 the management of the BWF Group Offingen handed over filter bags, with a five figure value, to the city and county of Günzburg for the dust collector of the Günzburg bio mass power station. This was accompanied with the assurance that the filter media recommended by BWF Envirotec would keep the plant's emissions far below the legally permissible limits.
The inspection of the dust collector has now proven that these expectations were exceeded. Initiated by BWF Envirotec, a review was carried out jointly with employees of the operator KWA and the boiler manufacturer. The results showed that the system is sparkling clean and running very well. Emission measurements made in accordance with 1. BImSchV. regulation for small combustion plants, show dust emissions below the detection limit of 10 mg/Nm³. Thus, the emissions are so low that they can no longer be proven with conventional methods.
The application engineers at BWF Envirotec estimate the actual value to be well below 5 mg/Nm³. Legally 150 mg/Nm ³ would be allowed. This makes the Günzburg wood combustion plant one of the lowest dust emission wood furnaces in Southern Germany.
Wood is not necessarily a clean and environmentally friendly fuel. In addition to harmful gases, fine dust may also occur. Therefore, the BWF Group pushed for the use of bag filter technology. As evidence from Günzburg shows, under operational conditions, an even better separation efficiency has been achieved than that of the originally planned high quality electrostatic precipitator. The analysis carried out by the BWF Envirotec laboratory in Offingen shows that the PTFE-filter media is ideally suited to the plant. "There are no actions required. The filter bags have a further life of at least 24 months", explained Ernst Rohner, Director Global Process & Application Technology. The Managing Partners, Stefan Offermann and Dr. Wolfgang Schmid, added: "We are pleased that we can help to protect the environment and thus the health of the people in the area of our headquarters located in the district of Günzburg ."
