Waste treatment plants impose high demands on dedusting. This concerns not only the thermal and chemical resistance of the filter media, but also the separation performance. According to the seventeenth regulation of the Federal Pollution Control Act (17. BImSchV) in Germany, a dust emission limit of less than 10 mg/Nm ³ has to be maintained. The required emission limits can be easily and safely reached with needlona®-filter media treated with the appropriate chemical finish.
Typical Operating Conditions:
| Cont. Temperature (°C): | 100-220°C |
| Peak Temperature (°C): | Orientation to the maximum peak temperature of the fibre polymers used |
| Dust: | Fly ash, sorption products |
| Dust Properties: | Free-lowing to agglomerating |
| Dust Source: | Cyclone, different sorption processes, grate firing |
| Harmful Gases: | H2O, HCl, HF, NOx, SOx |
| Cleaning Process: | Pulse jet |
| Fuels: | Industrial, municipal and hospital waste, sewage sludge |
Specific Requirements for Filter Media in Thermal Waste Treatment Plants:
- High temperature resistance
- Good chemical resistance
- High separation performance
Srim and Fibre Types for Filter Media in Thermal Waste Treatment Plants:
Because of their high temperature and good chemical resistance, needlona® high-performance filter media made of Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS)-, Polyimide (PI)- and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-fibres are especially suitable in dedusting of thermal waste treatment plants. In addition, blends of the aforementioned fibres on a PTFE-scrim have also proven their value for this application. By using PTFE-scrim, the strength of the filter media is maintained over a long period of time, even under challenging operating conditions. For the filtration of finest dusts all types are also available as MPS® filter media. Under optimal operating conditions, the dust collector can achieve an operational life of several years with safe compliance of the emission limits.
Depending on the flue gas cleaning process, we recommend the needlona® high-performance filter media refined with a CS30® or CS31® protective finish. This finish increases the separation efficiency and thereby significantly increases the filtration performance of the filter media.
